Greetings dear colleagues!

Please hint me how to solve the next issue. I get a remote access to Arista CS-7124SX 24-Port 10G SFP+ via Console cable. I connect to a Linux server, start “sudo minicom -D /dev/ttyUSB0”, configure terminal settings with “9600 8N1” and start getting the ZTP logs:

Apr 25 12:13:26 localhost ZeroTouch: %ZTP-5-RETRY: Retrying Zero Touch Provisioning from the begining (attempt 756)
Apr 25 12:13:56 localhost ZeroTouch: %ZTP-5-DHCP_QUERY: Sending DHCP request on [ Ethernet2, Ethernet3, Ethernet9 ]
Apr 25 12:14:57 localhost ZeroTouch: %ZTP-5-DHCP_QUERY_FAIL: Failed to get a valid DHCP response
Apr 25 12:14:57 localhost ZeroTouch: %ZTP-5-RETRY: Retrying Zero Touch Provisioning from the begining (attempt 757)
Apr 25 12:15:27 localhost ZeroTouch: %ZTP-5-DHCP_QUERY: Sending DHCP request on [ Ethernet2,ernet9 ]
Apr 25 12:16:27 localhost ZeroTouch: %ZTP-5-DHCP_QUERY_FAIL: Failed to get a valid DHCP response

But I can’t cancel it, can’t type anything in the console, like SW ignores my input completely. What it might be the problem, please help?

Hey Dmitry.

Not sure if it is the case here, but last time I saw a similar behaviour, there was a cable problem causing unidirectional communication, i.e. we could only receive data, not send, so as first step, I would suggest checking/changing console cables and try again.

Hi Diogo,

That was my first concern, thanks for sharing of your experience, we will change the console cable and try it again. I also checked RS-232 specification and thought that this case is excluded by design just because of DTR/DSR circuits presence, take a look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVEnxipCIJ0&t=201s

Anyway, thank you for your hint, hopefully it’s not console Rj-45 port defect.
