I’m Donghoon from Korea.

I have a few questions.

How many NTP servers can I set up?

I want to know whether the number is fixed or unlimited.

Also, I want to know how much time difference will be synchronized when I set up NTP server.

(For example: 10 minutes difference from the server, or less than 10 minutes after the difference, synchronization, etc.)

please answer about my question.

Thank you.

Hi Donghoon,

I did a quick test in the lab by configuring 20 NTP servers and the switch accepted all configuration statements without any issues.

Regarding the maximum time difference, most operating systems have a 1000 seconds default configuration where the time will not sync if the difference is greater then this value.

In Arista EOS however the NTP client runs with “-g” option by default which allows it to sync regardless of time difference, meaning the switch will always sync to an NTP server once a good time source has been identified regardless of the difference between the local time and the time received from the server.

Hope this answers your questions.
