I am unable to add the command “switchport mode access” to my config. Below are the commands that I have tried. As you can see from the commands,  I would expect vlan 10 to be added to port 6, however when checking, the VLAN is not assigned to the port.

SiteA-Leaf1(config-if-Et6)#show running-config section ether 6
interface Ethernet6
switchport access vlan 10
switchport

SiteA-Leaf1(config-if-Et6)#switchport mode access

SiteA-Leaf1(config-if-Et6)#show running-config section ether 6
interface Ethernet6
switchport access vlan 10
switchport

SiteA-Leaf1(config-if-Et6)#show interfaces ethernet 6 | include protocol
Ethernet6 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

SiteA-Leaf1(config-if-Et6)#show vlan
VLAN Name Status Ports
—– ——————————– ——— ——————————-
1 default active
10 Servers active
20 PCs active
30 Phones active

I have been using this page as reference: https://www.arista.com/en/um-eos/eos-virtual-lans-vlans#vlan_chap_intro

Hi Christopher,

CloudEOS has routing capabilities only, so you cannot create access ports, you can however configure subinterfaces with dot1q encapsulation as mentioned in the CloudEOS configuration guide: https://www.arista.com/en/cg-veos-router/veos-router-subinterface-support-for-veos

vEOS-lab/cEOS-lab/cEOS would have both L2+L3 features.

HTH,
Tamas
