Hi Arista Team,

How can we use netconf or any model to configure the devices ?

I read the following post:

Yang definition for EOS

Is this right ?

Thanks,

Nikhita

Hi Nikhita,

That article is correct; Arista does not have any near term plan to implement NETCONF support.  Our REST API (eAPI) provides a good data structure (JSON) for automating the management of our switches.

For configuring the devices, you can also leverage pyeapi, which is python library for interacting with Arista eAPI.  It is continuously being developed and currently has quite a comprehensive APIs available in the library for various configuration tasks.  See some links below for more information:

Just to add a bit more color, Arista is actively working with the OpenConfig community to adopt vendor neutral YANG models that allow true agnostic control of devices without all of the vendor specific tweaks. We are working on RESTconf as well as planning Netconf implementations as we partner with our customers to identify how we holistically address the challenges of device management.

Is there any updates around how Arista has evolved with NetConf/RESTConf/OpenConf and Yang?

Hi Jake,

EOS has had support for netconf for some time now via OpenConfig models and vendor specific augmentations/deviations. Supported OpenConfig models/paths are documented per release in the TOIs in the download section of arista.com. Here is a link to the latest:
