hello community.

thing is I´m new in arista and I have to create a little lab using hpe storage and compute. I was reading and reading about this type of solution and I have a question about arquitecture….

if I use a topology with ONE leaf and ONE spine, works?
if I use a topology with TWO leaf and no spine, works? i think not, because who will route!!

I hope you can help me.

best regards.

Hi Daniel,
There is no dedicated proprietary roles with Arista devices.
A switch is a switch (and a router…), you can position any switch as a Leaf or as a Spine switch, it does not matter.
If you have only 2 devices then it’s not a leaf-spine, it’s just a small daisy chain, a pair.

Any Arista device can do routing, in addition to Layer2 bridging and switching, so you can use both your devices as both L2/L3 leaves, without problem at all.

Best regards,
