Hello Friends,

I am building 3 DC with L3LS architecture, where we will have 3 different CVX cluster in 3 DC. My question is can we manage 3 DC from a single CVP cluster from any of the DC. If yes, then what are the pros and cons.

Regards,

Kishan

Hi Kishan,

Thanks for reaching out.

Yes we can manage the devices across DC's on a single CVP cluster.

We just need to ensure the CVP to switch latency is within the limits else we might observe issues like task failures etc due to timeouts.

For design implementation/deployment specific details we recommend you to discuss/contact your Arista SE as they are well aware of your network requirements.

Thanks,

Bhavana.

Hi Kishan,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We can deploy a single CVP cluster from any of the DC to manage 3 DC if it is under the recommended scale and meets the latency requirement. Provided are the latency requirement with the latest version, CVP 2021.1.1, as reference:

Latency:

  • CVP node --- CVP node less than 5ms RTT
  • CVP node --- EOS device less than 500ms RTT

For details about the cluster scale, we can refer to the release notes. We have also attached the release notes of the CVP 2021.1.1 for reference.

For design requirements and deployment-specific details we recommend you to discuss/contact your Arista SE.

Manoaj Mani

Hello Manoaj,

Thanks for your detail response.

I am also confused on CV license part - is it per device or a single license for a DC fabric (let suppose 50 device license SKU) ?

Also what about Arista support license requirement ?

Kishan

Hello Manoaj,

We are planning to have CVP and CVX in VM deployment not Appliance base deployment.

Hi  Kishan,

CVP and CVX can be deployed in VM as well. For CVP 2021.1.1, the supported HyperVisors are

  • VMware ESX (recommended) HyperVisor -> 6.5 and above
  • KVM -> 1.5.3 and above

This can be seen under the Compatibility section in the release document.

For the CVX:

The CloudVision eXchange should be installed on a single system along with CloudVision Portal. The following table lists the minimum hardware and software required to use CloudVision eXchange.

Required Hardware:

  • CPU: 4 cores (base), 8 cores (recommended)
  • RAM: 4G (base), 8G (recommended)
  • Disk: 4G

More details available in this document: https://www.arista.com/en/um-eos/eos-cloudvision-exchange-cvx

The license for CVP is based on the support contract signed with the accounts team. You can reach out to your sales team regarding further queries on licensing.

Regards,

Manoaj Mani
