I have one configuration question.

I tried to configure cvx, hsc on veos switch (Aboot-veos-8.0.0.iso & vEOS-lab-4.17.5M.vmdk) via VMware.

Refer to the configuration via web, I have confused a little bit.

Question) Do I make two VMs for cvx server and cvx client respectively???

Look likes, ‘2.4 CVX Configuration’ is for cvx server configuration and

‘ Connecting the CVX Client to a Server’ and ‘ Configuring Hardware Switch Controller Service (HSC)’ for CVX Client configration.

Would you clarify for me to set up VMs properly? please….

2.4 CVX Configuration

Enabling CVX on the CVX Server

switch(config-cvx)#no shutdown

localhost(config-cvx)#service vxlan

localhost(config-cvx-vxlan)#shutdown Connecting the CVX Client to a Server

switch(config)#interface loopback 5

switch(config-if-Lo5)#ip address

switch(config-if-Lo5)#management cvx

switch(config-mgmt-cvx)#server host

switch(config-mgmt-cvx)#source-interface loopback 5

switch(config-mgmt-cvx)#no shutdown

switch(config-mgmt-cvx)# Configuring Hardware Switch Controller Service (HSC)

switch(config-cvx)#no shutdown

switch(config-cvx)#service hsc

switch(config-cvx-hsc)#no shutdown

Thanks alot

Hi Jeff,

If you are playing around with VM’s we require two VM’s one could act as a cvx-server and the other will be cvx-client.  If we have physical switch then the switch should be the cvx-client.
The HSC service requires a connection to an OVSDB controller and the configuration should be done on the cvx-server.

Thank you for your crystal-clear explanation!!!
