Hello,

I was curious how CVP gets interface utilization/rates from our switches and what the frequency of sampling is. I am curious if interface load intervals on the interfaces have any affect on what CVP gets via streaming telemetry.

Example
switch(config)#interface ethernet 7
switch(config-if-Et7)#load-interval 60
switch(config-if-Et7)#

Hi Jonathan,

Load-interval on EOS cli has no affect on telemetry, because data is getting streamed by TerminAttr from the internal states of the switch as the states change. For interface counters specifically, the update interval by default is 2 seconds, which is controlled by the platform agent, and the rates are then calculated by the analytics engine every 10s, 1m and 15m. You can also check this on the CVP UI, if you create a view in the Metrics page and click on the graph; that will bring up the modal view, and upon clicking on the Data Table you can see all the indexes with the timestamp and their values. As you expand the the range in the timeline (bottom of the webpage) you'll see that the delta increases between two values (10s, 1m and 15m).

HTH,

Tamas
