I am currently running the latest versions of CVP, Cloud builder and Arista IPAM. This is a single node VM lab system using vEOS. I have verified in the release notes that all version of CVP, cloud builder, vEOS, telemetry etc are correct and no tasks or change control is running and all device under provisioning are in sync. Ive used the cloud builder portion to create my EVPN fabric fine, now i want to upgrade so i can use CVP studio. The error i see when running the upgrade are as follwos it appears its looking for the latest CVP to upgrade cloudbuilder(i assume to CVP Studio)

–> Finished Dependency Resolution
You could try using –skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va –nofiles –nodigest

Hi Michael,

CloudBuilder 2.4.2 is not supported with CVP 2021.2.0, CloudBuilder 2.4.4 is the minimum required version which you can download from software downloads. You will either have to install that first before upgrading CVP or uninstall it, if you want to proceed with the CVP upgrade.

yes looking at the logs i thought it appeared that was the case however the release notes says Cloud-builder 2.4 is supported not 2.4.4 is supported but 2.4.2 is not. Ill try that. What i am trying to get is the Cloud Studio which we saw a demo of and it looked a lot like cloud builder. So does Cloud Builder get converted to Cloud Studio in the 2021.2.0? Appreciate the quick response!

That's a mistake in the Release Notes which should be corrected soon, the minimum required CloudBuilder version is 2.4.4 for CVP 2021.2.0

CloudBuilder templates will not be converted to Studios, but instead we've built new Studio templates for L3LS, EVPN  Services, etc (more to come) and Studios beta does not support devices in the Undefined container, so you won't be able to use the entire flow that you did with CloudBuilder before just yet (but it's coming soon), for that you can still use CB 2.4.4+

Tamas

Thanks Tamas. I was able to upgrade cloud builder and upgrade CVP fine. Is there any documents on CVP studios? I dont see any templates under change control/templates.

Yes, you will find everything about Studios in our User guide on the TOI page: https://eos.arista.com/toi/cvp-2021-2-0/cloudvision-studios-user-guide/ (soon that will be also included in the UI)

CC templates is a different feature, studios is for generating the actual switch configurations using studio templates (which then would have to be pushed via a Change Control), whereas change control templates are just a way to templatize your changes, so for instance if you are doing MLAG ISSU upgrades, you'd create a change, where you'd add a few stages like

  • Check Mlag health on switch A and switch B
  • upgrade switch A
  • check Mlag health on switch A and switch B
  • upgrade switch B
  • check Mlag health on switch A and switch B

then you could create a template out of that, so the next time you're upgrading, instead of having to add those stages again you'd just select the template and select the 2 devices you want to upgrade one after the other and it would autofill the stages for you. This is described in great detail in the TOI for the CC templates: https://eos.arista.com/toi/cvp-2021-2-0/change-control-templates/
