I’d like to setup an email notification via event-manager for interfaces once they hit a pre-defined level of say 50% or 5G? I also have the ability to use CVP if that is a better option? Any help is appreciated!

Hi Jeff,

For the switch to send out email alerts,we would need to configure the switch as an email client. Please find more details regarding the same on our EOS Central link here : https://eos.arista.com/email-client-configuration-on-arista-switches/

For the event-handler, the required action would be to send an email when the interface utilization percentage crosses a certain threshold value.A sample event-handler configuration for a check of output counter rate percentage of interface et33 could be found in the attached file 'event-handler test.txt'

In the attached example, the action statement would send an email to the mentioned email-id with the subject line as "interface utilization crossed configured threshold for ethernet33 for outbound" . The conditional statement performs a simple check for the 8th column's value ( output rate in % ) from the output of 'show interfaces counters rates' to check if the integer value returned exceeds 50.

The action/conditional statements would need to be modified as per your requirement. You could also refer to the following article which provides additional options and you could combine it with email alerts : https://eos.arista.com/syslog-triggered-event-scripts/

In case you have any additional questions or need any further clarifications , please feel free to reach out to support@arista.com

Thanks,
Punit

This is something that should be possible to do in CVP in the future.
