I’m new to Arista devices. We’ve bought a 7050SX for test/learning purposes. Could you please help me with the commands to check the actual EOS license level:  Flex  Flex-lite  Cloudvision etc.?

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Csaba

Dear Csaba,
thanks a lot for your question.

The licensing on Arista EOS devices is currently based on a honor based system. This means all available features on the platform are actually working without the need of applying a license key to it.

If you would like to use those features in production, please get in touch with your SE to obtain the needed license. Thank you for being an Arista customer!

Best regards,
Florian

Hello @Csaba,

Thank you for the above explanation.

However, I still not clear about certain things and would appreciate  further clarification.

  1. "All available features on the platform are actually working without the need to apply a license key to it"  Why then is there a need to obtain a license for certain features in a production environment?
  2. In a production environment, is it possible to move the license from one switch to another when replacing the switch?
  3. What command do I need to check if there is a license already installed in a switch?

Thank you.
