Hi,

How Arista switches like DCS-7160 will balance traffic on odd number of equal cost links in LACP? For example how it will be in a three port bundle?

I know some Cisco router like PFC3 on Cisco 6500 uses a 3 bits hash to utilize interfaces of a bundle that results uneven utilization in odd number of ports. Does Arista acts same or it uses better algorithm to overcome such issues?

Thank You,

Ali

Hi Ali,

On 7160 we support  "Link Aggregation hash utilizing L2 & L3 packet header fields"

We use hash fields to load-balance traffic in a bundle:

By default, for an IPv4 packet, in 7160 we currently use:

1.Source and destination MAC addresses
2.Source and destination IP addresses
3.L4 source and destination ports
4.VLAN

Please refers to the following link:

Thank you
