Hi all,

Today in our dev lab we wanted to rate limit the Egress for a port to 100Mb and I wanted to confirm on the device this was happening at the right rate but I couldn’t find a way to identify what the current bps or Mbps value was other than waiting 5 minuets and waiting for the averaged value to update.

As I’m new to Arista with some experiance of Juniper I was looking for a similar output to the monitor interface command.

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/reference/command-summary/monitor-interface.html

I can use something like “watch show interface ethernet 18” But it doesn’t give me the same live details that I appreciate from the monitor interface command.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi Jonathan,

  • To view live interface counters after egress shape rate can be done by first modifying the load-interval globally or per interface. Default average view is 5 minutes, by modifying the below will allow you granular tracking w/o any impact

Switch#conf t
Switch(config)#load-interval ?
default load-interval configuration

Switch(config)#load-interval default ?
<0-600> Number of seconds

         Switch#wr
