Hello Team,

I have configured Ping-utility Daemon in Arista switch as per customer requirement. Configs seems to be ok but I think I have to configure CONF_FAIL & CONF_RECOVER too , to make it fully operational. I need your help, how to add these 2 files in Arista switches, I believe these are Python Files & would need your advice further to make it work as on status it show “No status for Data stored”

Hi Chandra,

Thank you for writing to the forum. I understand that you wish to configure X lines when the ping fails, and then configure Y lines when the ping is successful. If you wish to use the Fail and Recover files, then you may save the files to flash ( /mnt/flash/ ) and then access the files from there. To access the files, you can use the bash prompt. An example is here:

Hello Dharmesh, Thank you for the response. As per the customer requirement, they want to track 8.8.8.8 & 4.2.2.2 IPs & in case of these IP unreachable , they should receive an alert in their monitoring system without removal of default-route. I want to know, is there a way we can configure the same by PingUtility the SNMP commands in CONF_FAIL & CONF_RECOVER files ? I am getting confused on how to access & configure these 2 files ?

Hi Chandra, Yes. In the same script, instead of entering the configuration and deleting the ip route, you may enter #bash shell and send an email with the email utility of linux. This will need some testing however. Also, a few scripts are available in Arista Github for the similar requirements. Thank you!
