Hello all,

I have an Arista DCS-7148SX-F-SP, and would like to limit ingress traffic and egress traffic.

So for ingress traffic it’s easy, i used “shape rate 10000” on my interface.

But for egress, I tried to used qos map, I have the FM4000 platform.

So I do this :

SW1(config-if-Et1)#no qos trust

SW1(config-if-Et1)#qos cos 3

SW1(config)#qos map cos 3 to traffic-class 3

SW1(config)#qos map traffic-class 3 to cos 3

SW1(config)#qos map traffic-class 3 to tx-queue 3

SW1(config-if-Et1)#tx-queue 3

SW1(config-if-Et1-txq-1)#shape rate 10000

But it’s doesn’t work, and when i do “sh run” i don’t see the following line :

qos map cos 3 to traffic-class 3

qos map traffic-class 3 to cos 3

qos map traffic-class 3 to tx-queue 3

Like he don’t want to learn this…

I have maybe forgotten something ?

Thanks to help me ^^.

Hello Alexis,

Regarding the shape rate configuration, this only applies in the egress direction.  For ingress bandwidth limiting, you would want to look into configuring a policer.

Also, you can only shape on the whole interface, or tx-queues.  However, you should not configure the interface shaping with tx-queue shaping as they are not compatible together.  You can, however, configure multiple tx-queue shapers.

You should see the shape rate configuration in the running-configuration, however the maps you made are already the defaults, so they do not show up for this reason.  You can see this when you run ” show run all | grep ‘qos map’ “

Please see these outputs for more information on your configuration:

show qos maps
show qos interface ethernet 1

Regards,
John

Hello John,

Thanks for your answer.

I would like apply policy map but my devide don't want :
policy-map  not supported on this hardware platform

At the moment i have do this on my interface E23
Ethernet23: Trust Mode: UNTRUSTED Default COS: 5 Default DSCP: 0 Port shaping rate: 10209 / 10000 kbps Tx Bandwidth Shape Rate Priority Queue (percent) (units) ----------------------------------------------- 6 - / - 10 / 10 ( Mbps ) SP / SP 5 - / - 10 / 10 ( Mbps ) SP / SP 4 - / - 10 / 10 ( Mbps ) SP / SP 3 - / - 10 / 10 ( Mbps ) SP / SP 2 - / - 10 / 10 ( Mbps ) SP / SP 1 - / - 10 / 10 ( Mbps ) SP / SP 0 - / - 10 / 10 ( Mbps ) SP / SP

And for my qos maps :
