Hello,

I have a question about 3rd party transceiver in ZTP mode.
As far as i know, when use the 3rd party transceiver without 3rd party transceiver code configuration(service unsupported-transceiver command), interface status was changed to errdisable.
But use 3rd party transceiver in ZTP mode, interface status is connected and switch can check LLDP information.
I wonder the switch can use 3rd party transceiver without 3rd party transceiver code configuration(service unsupported-transceiver command) in ZTP mode.

Thank you,
Taeil Nam.

Hi Taeil,

ZTP will unlock 3rd party transceivers during its bootup process in order to try to use those to link up. This is done because we have no way of knowing if the customer has an unlock key that they will apply with the downloaded startup-config that would let those xcvrs work, and we don't want to force customers to use different xcvrs from how they plan to deploy the switch just for ZTP.

Note, however, that if the downloaded startup-config doesn't include an unlock code, once ZTP reboots the switch and it's back in normal operation, those links with 3rd party xcvrs will disabled as per usual.

Thanks,

Vignesh
