testI have a test setup where I have some vEOS devices imported into CVP. For some reason if I provision them I get am error in the task stating it is trying exacute command post to a the wrong interface. See attached.
Interesting thing is that I have two IP’s on the vEOS devices. One Management interface 192.168.1.12 and one on E1 10.1.1.2 both on same VRF. E1 10.1.1.2 IP is not accessible from 192.168.1.0/24 that CVP is located on. If I look on the switch for api http-command it look like it is using both IP’s for EAPI access. How do I specify the IP that CVP should use?
Let me know if I need to provide any additional information.
If you’re running 2018.2.4 then it’s highly possible that the wrong Management IP can be chosen during configlet push, where a configlet that specifies IP address for interface types is updated, due to BUG387864 (included in the release notes that you can find in https://www.arista.com/en/support/software-download.
As a workaround, to choose the correct management IP, you can go to the Provisioning tab, right click on the device — Manage — Ip address and choose or type the correct IP again; but still better to upgrade to not hit this any more.
Hope this helps,
From the switch side we do not make a differentiation on the IP address CVP should use. Enabling the management api would enable EAPI access on all the IP interfaces. You would see all the listed URLs under “#show management api http-commands” output.
From the CVP perspective, it should only be able to reach the switch in the same subnet in your environment or there should be routing setup to reach the other IP addresses. While adding the device in CVP, you specify which IP address you want to add.
This action can be taken from Inventory page in CVP and you can click on “add device” in far right corner. This will ask for hostname of the device OR ip address which you can specify.
More details regarding this are available in CVP config guide located at Arista software download page–Cloudvision–> 2018.1.0–> cvpconfig_guide.
