What address would you recommend as the IGMP Querier address, assuming I am not using PIM?

If PIM is not enabled in a VLAN, and there is a requirement to use the IGMP snooping querier feature an IP address must be nominated from which to source the IGMP queries.  This value can either be a single global address, or an address on a per VLAN basis.

There are no restrictions on what the selected IP address can be.  However as a best practice the IP address of the appropriate SVI of the switch should be used, if the switch does not have an SVI it is recommended to use an unused IP address in the same subnet as the target VLAN.

The IGMP Snooping querier address can be configured globally, or on a specific VLAN using the optional VLAN arguments:

-IP IGMP snooping [VLAN <VLAN>] querier address <IP address>

-IP IGMP snooping [VLAN <VLAN>] querier
