Packets is a cloud based network analysis and visual troubleshooting tool. Here are a few frequently asked questions and useful tips.

What file formats are supported?
Captures with the formats – .pcap, .cap, .wcap, .pkt and .pcapng – are supported. Both wireless and wire-side captures are supported.

How do I capture the packets on my network?
You can use tools like Wireshark to capture packets on your network. If you are on Mac, you can install AirTool or use Wireless Diagnostics.

What other tools can be integrated with Packets?
AirTool users can upload traces from AirTool directly to their Packets account using the API key. Wireshark users can upload traces from Wireshark directly to their Packets account using our Wireshark plugin. Read more.

How can I share my file with other users?
On Home page, click on the sandwich button beside the tracefile name. From the drop down menu, click the Share option. In the file sharing dialog, enter the email-id of the other user and click Share. Also, you can mark the file as public and share its link on social media or newsletter groups.

How many files can I upload?
Generally a Packets account provides 150 MB of storage space, where you can store up to 30 traces (whichever quota is reached first). To check your current usage, click the ‘Account Settings’ option. To request for more space, click the ‘Need more space?’ option. Both options are available in the drop down menu that appears on clicking your username at the top right corner.
