Hi, working with a lab 7050TX2 switch here, and have a need to break out some of the 40gbe ports on it to 4x10gbe via twinax cables. The normal of exposing the 4x eth97/1-4 ports with “transceiver qsfp default-mode 4x10G” didn’t seem to work, and there are no “speed force” for the media type present.

I was trying originally with a 3rd party optic, but even tried a real arista with no luck.

Is the switch even capable of exposing these ports, or running 4x10gbe on this platform or something I’m missing to trigger the 4x eth ports from a single 40g? This is on 4.21.5F.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for writing to the forum. The detailed question has led me to find an answer quickly.

The interfaces 97 to 104 on the platform 7050TX2 are only 40G operational. More about this could be found in the attachment. It is also a public-facing document.

Unfortunately, 7050TX2 does not have any 4x10G support interfaces. Other interfaces on the platform could do 1G and 10G.

If you’re ok turning your 40G port into a single 10G port, it can be done.
