I’m not able to advertise any prefix to my BGP peer.

ARISTA#sh ip bgp neighbors x.x.x.x advertised-routes
BGP routing table information for VRF default
Router identifier x.x.x.x, local AS number 65490
Route status codes: s – suppressed, * – valid, > – active, # – not installed, E – ECMP head, e – ECMP
S – Stale, c – Contributing to ECMP, b – backup, L – labeled-unicast
Origin codes: i – IGP, e – EGP, ? – incomplete
AS Path Attributes: Or-ID – Originator ID, C-LST – Cluster List, LL Nexthop – Link Local Nexthop

Network Next Hop Metric LocPref Weight Path
* > q 10.79.x.x- – – 65490 ?
* > q 10.79.x.x- – – 65490 i

Why it showing as q? And what will be the workaround/solution?

Hi Hairul,

Is this observed on Arista veos? If so, do you have below config under router bgp?

BGP update wait-install

This configuration needs to be removed when testing configuration in vEOS since will cause the device to be waiting for hardware acknowledge indefinitely.

Hi Aesha, Yes I'm using veos, is this a known limitation? Anyway, problem is resolved once i removed the BGP update wait-install and update wait-for-convergence Thank you very much

The feature is waiting for installation of routes into hardware, which is not congruent with the nature of vEOS.
