Is there a way to use a Editor/IDE such as Sublime, PyCharm to Modify and/or deploy Configlets to CVP?

I am currently using the Configlet Web Interface and my Configlets are getting bigger. I’d like to try to use an Editor/IDE to edit my Configlets.

If you are using an any IDE for CVP Configlets I’d like to hear about your workflow.

If you transfer Configlets to CVP via SSH, SFTP or other methods I’d be interested in how you accomplish this.

Thanks in advance,

Do you need an IDE because you use scripts in configlet-Builders as opposed to simpler static Configlets?

I am asking because IDEs offer debugging capabilities, so it's typically used for scripting.

Or maybe it is just to have some syntax highlight and just a better editor?

That's the reason why I personally use Visual Studio Code to edit anything. I use some EOS CLI syntax highlighting. I copy/paste it between the CloudVision portal and my editor.

The advantages are:

  • Keeps the CloudVision built-in change tracker. The Configlets track who changed the Configlets, when. You can compare the historical changes. That is very useful
  • Copy/Paste is as fast as doing any file transfer. It scales well for small amount of Configlets. If you are talking about 20+ Configlets you edit frequently, then I would understand you consider keeping them permanently "open" in your editor and get large scale "push" when you want.
