Hello Arindam,

There is no restrictions on which ports you use for MLAG. But a few guidelines:

1. You should port channel at least 2 interfaces. That way you have some redundancy for the MLAG interface.
2. Make sure the link has ample bandwidth for your use case.
In other words, if you have a lot of single homed devices which could place a load on the MLAG cross link, you’ll want to have a ’big enough pipe’ between the MLAG pairs. So a couple of the 40G links would probably be sufficient. Additionally, if you are planning on a redundancy scheme that can count for multiple failures where a heavier load is placed on the cross link, then you’ll need to plan accordingly by using enough interfaces to provide that bandwidth on the cross link.
