Hi,

I am testing port mirror in vEOS under ESXi5.5, one interface (et3) as source port and two interfaces (et4,et5)as destination port. However, only  et5 get the mirrored traffic (by tcpdump in CentOS VM which connected to et5). Et4 can get the traffic after removing et5 from destination port. Any suggestion?

#sh mon sess

Source Ports:

Both: Et3

Destination Ports:

Et4 : active
Et5 : active

Duncan,

I have tested myself and have the same behaviour.

Please consider that mirroring is normally done in hardware, and vEOS provide virtualised hardware, but many of the hardware-dependent features cannot be employed (for example ACLs, LANZ, etc). You would have an error message like ”! Hardware not present […]”

The Arista 7150S is the only switch capable of multi-destination (including port-channel, and CPU), vEOS can only have 1 destination.

Regards,
Alexis
