Hello. “show tech” is running for more than 24 hours. EOS was 4.15.6M, upgraded to 4.20.11M-2G. Did not help. The same situation is observed on two switches. Any suggestions what may be causing that? Thank you.

Hi Boris,

Could you please provide some more context around this issue. Some details that we need are

1) What is the exact model number of this switch?
2) Are you able to access the cli and type in commands and if so can you please send us a `show version` at the very least.
3) How was the `show tech` invoked. i.e did someone type in `show tech` on the cli or is it the hourly show tech's that are concerning you. Can you post a screenshot of this continuous show tech and/or better yet capture it in a text file and send us some of the output.

Hi Boris

Thank you for posting your question. We understand that you are having issue with collecting show tech. Can you follow the below steps:

  1. Open two windows for the same switch.
  2. On one window, run the command "show proc top" and monitor the output- check the overall CPU utilisation, check if any agent is using high CPU, load average
  3. Another window, run the following command which will dump the entire output on the screen- "show tech-support | no"  . In this, check at what point (which command output) the show tech gets stuck. That will help us isolate which command is taking so long for the switch to run during collection of show tech. Share the output with us where it gets stuck. You can use "CTRL+C" to exit out later.
  4. Simultaneously check the output of "show proc top" --> see if there is any agent which is using very high CPU (share the output) and if there is any sudden spike in CPU usage.

Can you also share your running config (show run) from the switch and also which model of switch you are using ?

Also, by any chance do you have internet scale route ?
