Does anyone have configuration guide on how to configure VXLAN in Leaf &Spine (L3) topology for vEOS?

Hi there is a VXLAN bridging  article published on EOS central which discusses the basic configuration steps, these are relevant for both an Arista hardware switch and the vEOS image.

Link to the article https://eos.arista.com/vxlan-with-mlag-configuration-guide/

Note the vEOS image doesn’t currently support the MLAG  configuration within the document.

Hi Sophon,

You will also find configuration details in the EOS Manual, under the section ”VXLAN”. For example, in the Manual for EOS 4.15.0F, this is section 18 at page 803.

For completion, MLAG+VXLAN is supported with vEOS in the 4.15.0F EOS release.

Thank you for your response. I don’t see any spine switch configuration on these EOS guides. Could you please provide some sample of Spine switch for VXLAN?

Sophon,

The Spine is routing IP with the protocol of your choice, there is not dependency on VXLAN. The traffic (native IP or with VXLAN inside) is just IP traffic from the Spine perspective.
Most networks would employ OSPF, BGP, or ISIS as routing protocols between Leaf and Spine, with /30 or /31 subnets on the links, routing the VTEP IP addresses (VTIs).

Alexis
